Tucson area driveshaft shop???

Unread postby Triathlete » Thu May 26, 2011 3:00 pm

My front driveshaft is shot. It currently has a CV in it (stock). I am looking to have a custom shaft made eliminating the CV for U joints. Looking for some recommendations for shops in Tucson. Thanks.

I've also used Precision Products and was happy with their product. Now what they're gonna build you is a stock type shaft, if you want something for offroad use that'll see some abuse I'd look elsewhere. The heaviest tube they'd use when I had mine done (several years ago, so they may have changed since then) was .095 wall tube... trust me, this will not stand up to dragging the weight of the truck over it! :p
Good luck!

Thanks guys...anything has got to be stronger than the punie little OEM shaft (it couldn't be bigger around than a 50 cent coin) and the CV on the end just plain sucks!

If you're not going to be trying to drive it down the highway in 4wd, then go to a square ds... you'll never break it!

I had Tim at Precision Products build me a rear shaft. He reused my joints, replaced a worn joint and re-tubed with .25" thick tube. Plus it is balanced. Price was very reasonable and took about a week. He has my recommend.

There you go... if he'll do it out of .25 wall, then you're set! I ended up building my own out of 3" x .25 wall DOM at the time. Took me all day to get it balanced right.

i had him shorten a front zuk shaft so i could get rid of the drive shaft spacers and i still have to run a 1in spacer after he was done.

i don't have another front drive shaft to provide for him to fuck up.
and i got rid of the spacers i would need to run a stock rear untill then.
