The ASHMAN Wildcat needs more Meow.

Unread postby Ashman » Tue Sep 09, 2014 9:22 am

Afew months ago I bought a used 2014 Artic Cat, Wildcat 1000X for Ang. Its her buggy for trail riding and duning. She will also keep her Honda TRX450 quad but at the new house we do alot of local putting around (hauling ass) on the local trails.

Its 1000cc, 2wd, 4wd, selectable front locker, 17in front wheel travel 18in rear.

First project was to add an action packer, cooler mount, Licensplace (street legal kit) and dome light. (so exciting)

There is a better wild cat 1000x Model that also has the high output 93HP motor, it is called the 1000 X Limited. On the limited you get elka brand coilovers.
Our base model 1000x has single coil fox front shocks that are not very tunable.

She wants safer suspension seats, paddles and new front shocks.

On call to ADS and I have some prototype 2.125in 8in two tube bypass air shocks.
This Friday I will modify them at ADS so I can start testing them on the Cat.

If these do well I plan to build some application specific 2.5in 4 tube air bypass shocks that will be a bolt in upgrade for the wildcat and priced equivalent to the elka stage 5 shocks.

Maybe too much Meaw, I bent the upper and lower a-arms on the passenger side of the mild cat. Now I need to build a jig, and make new stronger arms and plate them.

New shocks added speed the materials could not handle. The Bump was not a hard hit in the drivers seat. I guess Im also not used to the smaller tires, they dont roll over things as easily as a 40 in tire.

Ang said I have lost my non supervised driving privileges.

The cat looks way different for 2016.

Built a cage for it over Christmas break and completely different colors. Took off the air bypass shocks for conventional ADS coilovers, the bypasses were too sensitive to passenger weight and elevation, had to adjust nitrogen every trip.
